Sen Pearce sponsored the toughest immigration enforcement legislation in the nation, SB1070, Arizona’s Support Our Law Enforcement and Safe Neighborhood Act. This Act eliminates all Sanctuary Policies in the state, creates a Trespass provision for anyone who enters or remains in Arizona in violation of federal law and makes it a misdemeanor for an illegal alien to solicit work and a crime for anyone to pick up a day-laborer who they know is an illegal alien and a mandatory impound of their vehicle The Act brought the wrath of the Fed Govt on the Sovereign State of Az, and this battle is being fought in the courts. We spoke with the Senator about this law, the current situation in AZ, and the effects on the country. Senator Pearce has an illustrious background.
He was a Chief Deputy of Maricopa County Sheriff's office and created the nationally known "Tent City" for prisoners. Critically wounded in the line of duty by gang members, he was awarded the Medal of Valor which is the highest award given in law enforcement for exceptional bravery.
